The Montreal RMT-ML-OPT Seminar was founded in 2020 at McGill University. The seminar seeks to stay on top of current research at the interfaces of random matrix theory, machine learning, and optimization, with special attention to research at the confluence.

The theme of the seminar changes each semester. In recent semesters, we have done reading courses in topics such as spin glasses and algorithms. In other semesters, we have had a current-topics-in-ML reading seminar. The theme for Winter 2025 is research underway at McGill in random matrix theory, optimization, machine learning and related topics.

  • The calendar, with datesa and times of planned activities is available to the right.

  • Talks are planned in-person (sorry we are not planning a zoom component at this time).

  • Burnside Hall, Room 1120, at McGill is reserved for the seminar.
